Dolac is the biggest and most famous Zagreb market.
The market was opened in 1930, in the former settlement of Dolac. For a city of about one hundred and eighty thousand inhabitants, as well as in 1930 Zagreb was, new Dolac Market, and the new slaughterhouse in Heinzelova street, which will be open a little later, it was a first-class event. Especially if you consider that those were two most modern and most advanced facilities of its kind in Europe, and that due to construction of Dolac had to be sacrificed and destroyed whole tangle of old, dilapidated and damp houses and narrow shady street.
Dolac is called the "belly of Zagreb". Ban Jelačić Square and Dolac market are connected by the street Splavnica, where you can buy different kind of flowers. There are also several restaurants. Dolac Market is one of the must-see tourist attractions of Zagreb.
