The tradition of making salami and other cured meats are nurtured and passed on from generation to generation in almost every Samobor family. That tradition of the family "recipe" can create high quality tourist and economic event which first occupied many quality butchers.
Samobor Salami Festival was conceived 19 years ago by mutual competition by the chambers, and over time it was raised ideas about the official competition of Samobor Salami.
From the very beginning, even in the war years, Salami is regularly maintained and embraced the city of Samobor and Samobor Tourist Board. It was slow, but every year there were more and more interested, and producers and guests.
But the old way was no longer possible. The organization had to be raised to a higher level.
Since the formation of the Association of Gold Washer Samobor Salami is organized on a professional level and becoming a significant tourist - gastronomic event.
Today Samobor Salami is only such event in Croatia. Was introduced and the Ordinance on assessment, and any deviation from the norm, diminish the quality of salami and therefore brings a lower grade.
